The Full Story
One way or another, Serena’s songs mostly concern love in its many different facets. As an accomplished songwriter, Serena has reached the finals of the UK Songwriting Contest, an internationally acclaimed competition, with her original material. Her versatile and mellifluous piano-based writing touches on a number of genres including singer-songwriter and indie folk. Her sound has been compared to that of Kate Bush and Norah Jones.
A classically trained musician, Serena started writing songs at an early age and in her teens she both fronted and worked with a number of bands supporting major artists such as Micro Disney and World Party and worked with the producer of the Average White Band. Serena also holds a Masters in Music, Technology and Innovation and has worked with the Birmingham Electroacoustic Sound Theatre (BEAST) as an electroacoustic composer having her works performed as far afield as Canada. Serena recorded and co-produced her debut EP ‘Numb’, released in 2010.
Also a BBC trained journalist, Serena spent a number of years as a radio and TV news presenter/reporter. Whilst working at Yorkshire TV, she anchored the evening news programme presenting alongside the late Richard Whiteley and co-hosted a TV game show with Carol Vorderman.
